Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!  With a new year comes new crafty endeavors.  Right now, I'm considering several year-long projects which might mean I'm ambitious or crazy.  I guess time will tell.  I'll share them and then see what sticks.  No harm in trying, right?

First we have Iron Craft.  I did this last year and LOVED it so this will be a must.  However, this year there will be one challenge every two weeks rather than every week.  Much more manageable, right?  For those of you just tuning in, Iron Craft gives a theme each two weeks and you must complete a project in that time along the theme.  Projects are then shared in the group's flickr page

Second, I'm going to try a daily challenge with my 365: Daily Creativity Journal.  I bought this awhile ago but wanted to start at the beginning of the year.  Every day has a small suggestion to do something creative.  The author of the book started this by creating a skull every day using a different medium or technique.  I'm not going to follow a strict design theme, but want to use it as a way to challenge myself.  I'll probably do a weekly blog roundup of my week's progress.

Finally, if I wasn't crazy enough, I'm thinking about making a scarf.  I saw a post on Craft about someone who had knit one row of a scarf every day to match the color of the sky.  She posted a pattern online and invited others to try out the conceptual knitting project.  I like the idea and since I have little patience for knitting, maybe I will like only having to knit one row a day and the chance to alter my colors daily.  We'll see.  Seattle may give me a lot of gray and I already have several projects on my plate...

I'll keep you updated on my progress and may drop a project or two.  Are you starting any new projects this year?  What are they?

  1. Happy New Year to you too! What a great idea to knit a scarf using the colours of the sky, I think I would use the mornings as my colour theme. Pinks and yellows alongside dark blues and greys. Good luck with all your crafts in 2012.

  2. These are all great projects! Best of luck. I look forward to seeing everything that you make. I have a goal post scheduled for this week that outlines some of my new projects and undertakings for 2012.

(Don't forget about the BBA challenges this year, too!)
