This week on Iron Craft Challenge, our theme was Halloween. I created a pumpkin candle holder using one of my glass pieces from last week's challenge.
Originally, I tried using painters tape to leave the jack-o-lantern face clear. I thought this would look cool with a candle shining through. I put on the face and started brushing paint inside.
Sadly, my attempts failed miserably. The paint started seeping under the tape. I'm guessing it's because I repositioned a bit and maybe the tape lost its hold.
I peeled off the tape and filled in the spots. To eliminate brush strokes, I put in LOTS of paint and rolled the jar around a bit to evenly distribute. I used my brush to help push it along a bit. Once I covered the inside, I just painted the face on the outside with black acrylic paint.
Finally, I wrapped a wire around the top and added fabric leaves. All done!

This is really cute. And the fun thing about a jack o lantern is that the bleed through just adds to the look.

Cute! Perfect for Halloween. I agree that the bleed through works well for a jack o lantern.
ReplyDeletethat is so cute! i love the wire & leaf. :)
ReplyDeleteIt would have been good to see the glow through but I also always have problems trying to tape things off.
ReplyDeleteThis is great. The fabric leaf is a nice touch. I also love how you used last week's challenge again.

ReplyDeleteit turned out great! Like the little wire added to the top. It makes it ... less sterile! {:-D
