Cathedral Art

After sharing my graffiti photos yesterday, I thought I would spend today sharing some other art I photographed on my European travels.  This time the focus is on cathedral art.

Stained Glass designed by Alphonse Mucha- taken in Prague

Painted details in a church in Budapest-the entire interior was covered with it.

More gorgeous stained glass-Same church in Budapest

Exterior carvings- Cologne Cathedral

  4. Beautiful! I have always love the art and architecture of churches and cathedrals! Cologne Cathedral must have been wonderful, you have to love the German Gothic style :) A few years ago I was lucky enough to go to Italy with my Interior Design program and we visited so many wonderful churches and cathedrals. My favorite was the baroque San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane in Rome, but they were all gorgeous. I still want to make it to Istanbul someday to see the Hagia Sophia (it has such a rich and complex history in addition to its immaculate beauty), to Barcelona to see Gaudi's Sagrada Familia, and to go back to Italy to see the Sienna Cathedral. Thanks for sharing, you make me want to dust off my passport and get back out there :)

  5. Oh wow, those are beautiful! I took a few art history classes for fun in college (hooray for electives!) and I loved learning about this period. Just gorgeous.
