200 Crochet Blocks Book |
I found my book and chose a simple pattern in one color. I eventually hope to make the cool multi-color ones but I wanted to keep it simple.
I did have to start over once, but I kept at it even when I thought it didn't look right. And I finished!!
The end result looks sort of like the picture. I'm proud that I was able to finish one. I figure if I keep practicing and making more, eventually I can make a blanket. Well, maybe a baby blanket :)

Congrats! The only thing you'll have to do is to dress your square so the side lenght is equal all around. Pin it up.
ReplyDeleteI can see that you worked through only one loop, that isn't a mistake but it can cause a more "loosely" result. Well done, and don't give up it's such a pleasure to crochet.
Yeah for mastering the art of hooking! I felt such pride in mine though oh my hands hurt.
ReplyDeleteJenny, I'll have to add something. The most normal thing while crocheting is to work through both loops, unless it's mentioned in your pattern to use back/front loop only. But as I said it's not in any way wrong to use one loop only. It was the lines in your work that told me this.
ReplyDeleteKeep on crocheting!!
Great job! I love making granny squares, and there's so much you can do with them. It does look like the picture, and will look even more so once it is blocked.

If you don't get enough for a blanket you could make a scarf. I love the color of that yarn!
ReplyDeleteLooks great to me! And I find it incredible that the ladies commenting know what you did just from LOOKING at your photos!!
ReplyDeleteNicely done! Crocheting is not something that I have attempted yet. I love the color that you picked, too. A baby blanket would be a great future project.
ReplyDeleteYay! I feel like that a lot...my first try sucks so I give up, frustrated. All I really need is time to mull it over in my head, then the next time I pick it up things go much better. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. That is a pretty complicated pattern and you did a lovely job.
ReplyDeleteLaila- Thanks for your tips! I've started a second one and already feel like it looks better.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone else. I definitely felt frustrated and wanted to give up but I stuck it out and I think it helps. I feel more confident to try again.
